Jamilah and Mauratae Engagement Fun in the Sun (Florida)

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing Jamilah and Mauratae's engagement photo shoot. Jamilah and I were co-workers and she always had a very pleasant personality and always dressed very fashionable. I was pleased when she asked me to be her wedding photographer as I knew she would be a great client. I was happy to finally meet Mauratae (aka Boomer) last week. They make a beautiful couple and the love and chemistry between them cannot be mistaken. At the beginning of the shoot I asked them to take a portrait. Apparently they didn't hear me as for the first few minutes, they began dancing, hugging, kissing, and enjoying their time together. That worked out great for me as I just enjoyed snapping away. Below are some of my favorite pictures of the day. Thanks again Jamilah and Mauratae for choosing Shelly Edwards Photography and I'm looking forward to your big day in July.

Special thanks goes out to Michael Adderly for using his computer skills to allow us to see the pictures and text bigger! Thanks Mike :-)

A Walk in Time with Mark Prentice in the City of Brotherly Love-Philadelphia

Last weekend, I was invited to photograph my best friend, gospel recording artist, Mark Prentice as he performed at the Tindley Temple United Methodist Church in downtown Philadelphia. Below are some of my favorite pictures of the day. Mark is an awesome singer. You can check out his album, My Testimony on www.cdbaby.com, itunes, and www.myspace.com/markgprentice Gospel recording artist, Kimberly Palmer also sang powerfully. Tindley Temple was named after Rev. Charles Tindley who initiated the plans for the construction of the temple. He wrote a number of popular hymnal songs such as Nothing Between and We'll Understand It Better By and By.This was my first time enjoying Philadelphia and the music made it that much better!

Simone and Nassive Engagement: Springtime in the Park (New York)

This past month had me photographing in Jamaica, Florida, Philadelpia, and New York. It has been very busy but I have been loving every minute of it! I photographed Simone and Nassive when I first met them this past winter. We were all looking forward to spring when we agreed to have do the full engagement shoot. Based on the weather forecast, it seemed as though I might finally had a photoshoot in the rain that I have been wanting to experience. However, it turned out to be an absolutely beautiful spring day. Due to events in the city we changed the location of our shoot to Brooklyn. I had been to this park before but never dreamed of the beauty that was on the other side of the park. I had a rush of excitement as I saw the possibilities that lie ahead for the shoot. As usual, Simone and Nassive did a fabulous job following directions and just being themselves. Special thanks to the lovely lady we met at the park, Gretta for lending us her dogs Onyx and Amber for the shoot. Below are my favorite pictures of the day which I transformed to bring out the feelings they evoked in me. Looking forward to seeing you again Simone and Nassive on your big day!
